I am trying to figure out the REST API call to do a flat file export of the content of a couple hundred Documents. These Documents are all in a single Container but they are owned by a several different Authors within that container.
Your best bet is to start with the REST API:
Hope this helps =)
Thanks Ryan! I was able to export everything successfully. Couple of other small things I discovered along the way that I think would be helpful for other users trying to do this the first time:
-This doc does a great job explaining the difference between the different types of ID's Finding the Content ID and Place ID using Jive v3 API
-I found the "startIndex" field made it easy to download things in manageable tranches, you increment that 0-99 etc if you want to just run through a large list.
-Here is my query:
Hi David ! i got a couple question i´m trying to do the same thing, and actually was very helpful ! once you got all your documents, how you do you export the information ? i mean, csv, xml... ?And, i guess you will upload or migrate all those documents, do you know or do you ever been succeeded uploading a bulk documents by REST ? i'll really apreciate if you could give me a little horizon.
btw, i´m runing jive 184.108.40.206.
I ran the API calls in Postman (Google Chrome Plugin), and then just copied the results from the Postman window to Notepad++. I then used Notepad++ find/replace to get rid of the tags and other pieces of text I did not need, then I imported the results into Excel. I have not tried re-importing them yet, will let you know how that goes when I do.
thank you David !!
