As part of the 2016.1 release (see One Stop for the Jive-n/Jive-x 2016.1 Cloud Release), we have updated the HTML tile Add-on.

In this post i will detail the changes we've made to improve the HTML tile usability and capabilities, for a more step by step guide on how to use the HTML tile, please refer to Adding an HTML Tile to a Page One Stop for the Jive-n/Jive-x 2016.1 Cloud Release

JavaScript Permissions

We've added a new permission type, named "Save JavaScript", that will allow the Jive admin to grant the permission to create HTML tile with JavaScript to any user.

Note: Previously, this section erroneously stated that Space Admins have the "Save JavaScript" permission by default, which they do not.  This permission must be explicitly granted to each Space Admin.

Using external resources

Several issues have been addressed related to the use of external files, and external script/css files.

The HTML tile support referencing an external ".css" and ".js" files from within the HTML tile using the "link" and "script" tags respectively.

The external files can either be hosted internally in Jive by uploading them using the HTML tile, or by referencing the files from CDN or any other hosting service.

We've also increased the maximum allowed file size as follows:

Binary files: 6Mb

CSS/JS files: 1Mb

Limitations/Known issues

  • You can't share files between instances of the HTML tile.
  • You can't edit an existing uploaded file.
